'Villa Athina' a 4 bedroom air-conditioned and centrally heated, modern holiday home rental in Greece, that sleeps up to 8 people (plus a baby in a cot). Ideal for larger families or 'get togethers'

The house is on three floors, with a small herb garden at the front with fragrant lavender, oregano and marjoram for our guests' use. The side garden is always in bloom while the patio has a large table, chairs, parasol, sun-loungers and a free-standing barbecue. This is a particularly attractive breakfast spot as it benefits from shade until mid-morning and of course it is ideal for evening meals, barbecues and for enjoying that tasty local wine in the moonlight.

The two top floors have a large L-shaped balcony each, with tables and chairs to enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains and to the sea.

The house is air-conditioned, centrally heated and double glazed with an open plan fully equipped kitchen/dining and sitting area on the mezzanine lower garden floor. There is a fitted Miele oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, large size fridge/freezer, microwave oven, dining table and chairs for 8 people. You can also find a separate washroom at this level. 

A beautiful spiral staircase leads to the middle floor where are 2 fully furnished bedrooms, a double and a twin and a shower/toilet room. The white marble floor is soothing to the feet and keeps this floor really cool in the summer. From the double bedroom a sliding door leads you to the large L-shaped balcony. There is also an entrance door and outside marble stairs leading to the garden.

On the top floor there is a king-size bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a twin bedroom with a sliding door opening to the large L-shape balcony with panoramic views to the sea and mountains.  

Each of the upper two floors are ideal to accommodate a family of 4 (or 5 with added baby's cot), that makes it perfect for 2 families to share, a total of 8 plus a baby, or of course any group. We also provide baby high chairs.

Outside there is a gated parking space for up to 2 cars, unrestricted street parking and unlimited wifi internet in the house.

LOCATION

Set on a quiet residential road, about 1.1 km from the sea front (some 15 minutes walk), the house has been designed and furnished with style and great attention to ensure trouble free holidays while creating a warm and homely atmosphere.

By road it is easy to walk the 1.1 kilometre to the nearest beach of Agia Marina with sand and pebbles along a long stretch and the nearby tavernas (nearest 450 metres), mini market (250 metres), a local patisserie and coffee shop just a couple of minutes down the road.

Many of our guests prefer to explore the area and sample the varied beaches along the coast and therefore the hiring of a car adds greatly to their pleasure and convenience.

The location combines wonderful sunny weather, crystal clear seas and proximity to Athens and the new airport. Ideally located for visits to Athens, island hopping and trips to many fabulous ancient and historical places.

As the town is surrounded by hills, its weather is somewhat distinct from the rest of Attica; the climate is typically Mediterranean and resembles that of the Aegean Islands with relatively mild winters and hot dry summers.

How to reach us: Fly to ATH (Athens International Airport) which is about 12 kilometres away from our villa - some 20 minutes drive. We will send you detailed information to guide you by road from the airport to Porto Rafti where we will meet you and take you to your rental accommodation.

Porto Rafti has many varied and exquisite beaches:

The long sandy beach of Avlaki run by the local authority with lifeguards, showers, parasols, sun loungers, changing rooms, first aid room and bar. The sea is really shallow with crystal clear water, awarded the European Blue Flag for a number of years. There is an admission charge for adults and reduced for children.

Many pebbly and rocky beaches (free) for diving and also ideal for kids to search and catch sea creatures. We can provide you with nets, beach rackets and sand toys for young children.

The Panorama beach (free) with benches for you to sit or lie but bring your own sand mats and beach towels. The water is really shallow and child friendly and there is a family taverna and bar straight on the edge of it.

The long sandy beach of Agio Spyridon (free) with plenty of parking, parasols, bar, tavernas and a small picturesque church. Here the water becomes deep quite quickly. This beach is close to the Kastro which is worth a visit for the breath-taking views and you can enjoy a cool drink in this 'Castle Cafe'.

The Erotospilia = Lovecave (free) fantastic long sandy beach with pine trees, ideal for diving as the sea becomes sharply deeper after a couple of metres. There is a bar for cold drinks and snacks.

Amble down to our local beach at Agia Marina in about 15 minutes, to enjoy a wide and varied sea front. The beach is in part sandy with some sun loungers and parasols and partly pebbly. This promenade hosts a supermarket, an ice-cream parlour and many fish and meze tavernas and restaurants.

Porto Rafti is located on the east coast of Attica, opposite the Aegean islands of Evia, Andros, Mykonos. It is an ideal destination for those who want to combine a relaxing sun and sea holiday staying in a very comfortable villa, with the added benefit of easy day visits to Athens, islands and many other places of historical interest and natural beauty.

The area has many beaches to explore, swim and sunbathe, look for sea creatures, sample water sports, hire a canoe or sailing boat and find great value fish tavernas on the sea front for a romantic delicious dinner. There are many coffee bars, clubs and live music places, open air cinemas and boutique shopping on this seaside road.

You can visit the pine forest of Kouvaras (10 min drive) with its many monasteries, picnic area and play grounds and the Zoological Park of attica (20 min drive).

Athens with Acropolis and museums is very easily reached using the new motorway 'Attiki Odos' by car or bus or taking the new metro from nearby Koropi. The Athens International Airport is just 8 Km from the house.

Only 7 Km from the villa is Vravrona with the temple of Artemis and museum. Lavrion, once the centre for silver mining, with the oldest and biggest amphitheatre in Greece is about 20 minutes drive and the impressive temple of Poseidon in Sounio half an hour's drive, while Marathon, the monastery of Daphni, ancient Corinth, Olympia, Monemvassia, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Delphi and many more destinations of interest, offer fantastic day trips.

From the ports of Lavrio, Rafina and Piraeus, you can hop to many Greek islands for the day or more. You can even arrange for some yachting lessons at the old port of Porto Rafti.
